Abstract
The aim of this work is to establish a reflexive and theoretical relationship between the theory of International Sociolinguistics of Gumperz (1994) and the theory of social-historical internationalism in Vygotsky (1998), presenting points of convergence and divergence between them, based on the notion of interaction between them, which can confirm the relevance and theoretical importance of attempting to engage in two areas which are quite conflicting in principle: sociolinguistics and psychology. As a first step, the theory of International Sociolinguistics of Gumperz (1994) will be explained, after the theory of social and historical internationalism of Vygotsky (1998) will be spelled out at a second stage, and a third stage will present a relationship and consequent reflection between these two theories (starting from the idea of interaction), verifying whether or not they are mutually exclusive.
