Abstract
Between 1880 and 1916, the politico-pedagogical project which from primary school helped to consolidate the state in Argentina was organised from and through moral training. Ideas from ethical positivism served as a political and philosophical orientation of a curricular proposal focusing on notions of order and progress as the best way to insist on the prevalence of the social purpose over the individual. Love to homeland, respect and obedience to the authority, observance of order, school discipline, then appear to be the main areas around which moral training is organised at school.
