Abstract
Pedanius Dioscórides was a surgeon doctor in the Roman army in the 1st century BC. Their great job called De Materia Medica is known as the main source of ancient pharmacopoeia. Dioscórides was the inventor of medica material and used his extensive trips to study the plants. Dioscorides was seen as an eminent theme of drugs of natural origin for 16 centuries. De Materia Medica served as a cornerstone for pharmaceutical and herbal texts both in the West and in the orient and was translated into Syriac, Arabic and Persian as well as Latin. The particular characteristic of medical therapy in the medieval era was the extensive use of all types of drugs. For this reason, in addition to being carefully studied, De Materia Medica de Dioscórides also became a textbook frequently referred to by Turkish-Islamic scientists in their writings.
