Abstract
It presents the accessible book, pointing out its characteristics, benefits and limitations, pointing out how its use can help the visually impaired in accessing information. It uses as methodology the bibliographic survey of literature that deals with the topic covered available in books, articles, websites, legislation and tutorials, and the study on the characteristics and functionalities of MecDaisy assistive technology, which enables and simplifies the construction of informational materials accessible by people without programming experience. Builds an accessible text using the MecDaisy tool. It concludes that the accessible book is an important aid in access to information for the visually impaired, but for this to happen in a broader and more democratic way it is necessary to invest in technologies that facilitate and simplify its production and distribution. It highlights the importance of the librarian, as a professional mediator of information, to know and properly use accessible books and the tools that enable the use and creation of accessible texts.
