Abstract

This article represents a relative history in the establishment of the scout movement in Mexico. It is to be shown that movement promotions by the Mexican government started at the end of the XIX century until 1929. It began with the formation of the Batallones Escolares and ends with the creation of Tribus de Exploradores Mexicanos in rural areas. The principle concept of these youth-centered institutions and typologies were elaborated to focus on the adolescent age group. It was to reflect the political interests, concerns and social needs of the individuals or congregations who had established them. For this reason, the objectives of the article are centered to analyze the historical-political context that allowed the emergence of the different scout groups in Mexico. It is also to show the reasoning of its establishment, its organization and the activities carried out by its members.
