Abstract
The pedagogical reflections proposed by Paulo Freire provide sufficient theoretical and empirical luggage to show improvements and new paths for education. Although initially focused on popular education, Freire’s legacy expanded into different educational segments and could be used in university teaching. Thus, the aim of this study is to correlate freirean principles with university teaching, taking into account literature reports, planning and the implementation of a training course for university lecturers. In addition to descriptive and qualitative, the study uses content analysis, desk research and experience reporting. Evidence shows that Paulo Freire’s principles provide grants for university teaching, especially human principles, demonstrating the need for greater appreciation of social and democratic principles towards education that promotes better living conditions.
