Abstract
The purpose of this article is to present a system for mapping intentional lethal violent crimes (CVLI) in the state of Pernambuco. Crime data are published monthly on the website of the State Secretariat for Social Protection of the State of Pernambuco, but it is not possible to have a consolidated or comparative view of all the information available in the different archives made available in PDF format. The purpose of the tool developed in this project is precisely to remedy the problem of visualisation of this information by giving the public the possibility of aggregating it in a unified way. In addition, the initiative dealt with in this article establishes a new channel of communication which, in more than one direction, can promote greater public awareness and participation in social debates on, for example, violence against young people and women, with the view that separate statistical data can be obtained by categories such as crimes by sex and/or by age.
