ARA General Belgrain cruise in memóriam. Political and naval boundaries in the memories of Falklands

Abstract

Abstract This paper depicts the foundations of the early postwar Argentine naval memories of the Anglo-Argentine Malvinas/Falklands War. During the tenth anniversary of the sinking of the Belgrano Cruiser (May 2nd 1982), the greatest Argentine disaster is tied to two events in Argentine politics in which the Navy was involved. Such an articulation deploys the national bases underlying the memories of this international war.
