Abstract
Imboliary speculation in large cities and metropolitan areas is a cause of opulational distress, as well as numerous other problems, both structurally and socially. One of the most prevalent is the appropriation of places unfit for housing, usually by the low-income population. On this basis, it is understood that the occupied areas often need to be inappropriate due to the existence of risks for this population, as well as being public and/or private areas, triggering re-possession. In this way, government representatives are seeking, through the establishment of housing policies, to remove that population from those localities which are considered inappropriate. Supported by this, the overall objective of this work is the analysis of the Zilda Arns People’s Household Condominium Zilda Arns, located in the municipality of Santa Maria/RS/Brazil, in order to understand the performance of government policies ahead of the basic needs of its low-income population.
