Abstract

Feminicida behaviour in Mexico is possibly influenced by some factors in common, so it is important to analyse the origin of gender-based violence in Mexican society and the contemporary effects it has had on the community. The concept of femicide will be explained and studied from the perspective of Mexican law; paying attention to the motives that prompted legislators to add this type of criminal offence to the law, as well as the requirements set out in the legal definition to classify a specific conduct as femicide. Finally, the common circumstances that could influence femicide behaviour in Mexico will be discussed.
