District analysis of business R & D activities in Andalusia

Abstract

This work analyses the territorial and sectoral drivers of R & D activities in the business sector in a peripheral region such as Andalusia. At this type of region is the size and characteristics of the spatial dispersion of these regions. activities are related to territorial provision and to a minimum degree of productive and technological diversification of the business fabric. Through implementation the shift-share technique can be seen as in the Andalusian case for most of the there are no sectoral or territorial conditions for R & D generation in their territory in the private sector and when they occur, they are closely linked. The districts more dynamic are the metropolitan areas of Seville and Malaga, the agglomerations urban areas of the Bay of Cádiz, Granada, Cordoba, Huelva and Almería together with the Poniente Almeriense; areas with a highly diversified productive structure of innovation and in media-high and high-tech technologies are present.
