Theoretical reflections on the management of organisational culture as a tool for the integration of the Cuban University

Abstract

This analysis has its origins in the commitment of all higher education workers to help the integration process of the Cuban University be seen as a real potential. Furthermore, the systematic study of the outcome of this process is justified by the theoretical and practical importance of harnessing the strengths it offers. Moreover, in the knowledge that this process brought about a significant group of changes, it is considered necessary to have a reasoning on an element that may appear as a success factor or as a barrier: organisational culture. This study therefore aims to analyse the management of organisational culture as a successful tool in the process of integrating Cuban higher education. This provides an overview of the terms culture, organisational culture and its relationship with the integration of the Cuban university. The results of the analysis and the epidemiological situation in the country showed the need to respond to a more complex environment in order to achieve a refinement of the university model, making proper understanding and management of the culture of higher education institutions indispensable.
