Abstract
Among the research that has been devoted to the discussion on partidarism, many point to the growing distance of voters from political parties. In this regard, Dalton (2013) raises the view that the United States and other advanced democracies would be witnessing the expansion of a new type of non-partisan voter. In the light of those considerations, the purpose of this article is to highlight the influence of the Weber social action concept on the model of profiling the US electorate. In our view, Dalton’s analytical proposal adopts, as a matter of principle, the way in which Weber’s social actions are targeted.
