The retrieval of information in work presented at national and regional meetings of bibliotheconomy students, documentation, science and information management: a proposal to use the open conference systems

Abstract

O scientific and technological knowledge from research aims to solve society’s problems and contribute to its development. From that point on, the process of scientific communication, through formal or informal channels, becomes essential to ensure that the evolution of the state of the art of an area is always constant. However, information is not always found in traditional means of publication of knowledge, making grey literature a valuable source for various areas of knowledge. The development and development of new information technologies ensure that this communication is agile and dynamic, allowing grey literature to move towards recognition of its importance in the academic environment. It is therefore necessary to manage this type of literature, which offers an alternative to the traditional means of acquiring scientific information. The proposal to create an environment for the retrieval of information and management of literature generated at student meetings is based on the idea that it is often possible to anticipate trends which would only be noticeable when publishing the same research in already well-established means, often resulting in a loss of existing information only in progress, which is removed from the drafting of articles or books. Thus, the proposed use of the Open Conference Systems programme not only allows for greater agility and dynamism in the organisation of events, but also aims at creating a digital environment in which work presented at student events of bibliotheconomy, documentation, science and information management, allowing for interaction between researchers, becoming an alternative for publication, providing a memorial function for student events in the field and providing a source of information relevant to the community.
