Abstract
The aim of this article is to investigate the past and present of the Guarani religious leaders and blackmail in the territory of today’s Argentine North. On the one hand, we will look into what was the chamanic system of the Shipano-chané complex, described in ethno-historical studies, and, on the other hand, it is intended to analyse the juxtaposition processes of these chamanic systems with Christian religious systems, citing some current ethnographic cases of indigenous and evangelical political and religious leaders, who handle the arts of curing. Finally, an analysis of spiritual emergencies, cultural mediations and religious transfigurations between contemporary Amerindian peoples will be presented.
