A universidade e a formação de seus docentes: alguns apontamentos / The university and the development of its teachers: some notes

Abstract

This article is part of the area of teacher training and aims to discuss teaching work at the university and its associated need for pedagogical training. To this end, it develops reflections around three main axes: the university as a training institution; teaching at university and pedagogical training; and the university and the training of its teachers. The first axis highlights the role of the university designed as an educational institution for education and the construction of human society. The second axis addresses the need for pedagogical training for university teaching, focusing on quality teaching and teaching skills. The third axis shows that the institutional context in which teaching work takes place is of paramount importance and points to the university’s responsibility for the training of its teachers. Considers that teachers and institutions need to invest in the pedagogical dimension of teaching and be aware of their training responsibilities. Finally, it points out that there is an urgent need to develop higher education policies geared towards the training of university professorsinvolving teachers, pupils and institutions in the search for quality education and committed to building a fairer and humane society. The third axis empowerments that the institutional context where teaching takes place is of extreme importance, stressing the responsibility of the university towards its teachers. Therefore, teachers and institutions required to invest in the Pedagogical dimension of teaching and be Conscious of their educational responsibilities. Finally, this work points out to the need for the development of educational policies involving all teachers, students and institutions in search for an education of quality and committed to the construction of a more just and human society.
