Abstract
The “imperfect and provisional” post-tourism reading grid was proposed to reflect the change in the status of tourism, its practices and representations. It is presented as a composite concept designed to articulate three mutable modes of modern tourism: post-tourism (s), trans-tourism and hypertourism. The text takes a reflex approach to the origins, stages, reception and developments of this proposal. It maintains the post-tourism perspective as anchored in research guidelines focusing on the recomposition of the relationship between the ICF and the ILOP, and on the adversarial contribution of “critical” situations and practices. This is fuelled by the involvement of groups positioned at different geographical and temporal scales. It is based on a constant iteration between normative and non-normative registers and geographical and thematic, scientific and pedagogical anchorages.
