Abstract
En This article is based on the principle of equality and the best interests of children and adolescents, recognised in the Constitution of the Republic of Ecuador, as well as in the Code of Children and Adolescence, including international human rights instruments. The aim is to analyse the importance of the joint exercise of parental authority for the full development of minors, since in some cases after separation parents care only about their personal interests, leaving aside the demands of their children. Qualitative methodology was used, which makes it possible to conclude on the need to align the obligations of parents with their children, by means of a model of joint exercise of parental authority that gives them the same education and child-raising rights and obligations.
