Abstract
The quality of higher education is closely linked to socio-political development and the institutional nature of a nation. The centrality of this theme on public agendas shows that educational quality assurance makes a crucial contribution to the development of the public good. This article first defines the notion of quality of education and its link with access and graduation; secondly, it supports the idea of accreditation as a public quality assurance process in order to conclude with a reflection on the impact of accreditation processes on the construction of public policies.
