Análisis de la ansiedad en el atletismo; un estudio con veteranos. [Analysis of anxiety in athletics; a study with master athletes].

Abstract

The growing population of Spanish veteran athletes analyses their precompetitive anxiety. In addition, it assesses which variables of intrinsic satisfaction, perception and beliefs about the causes of success in sport and which training and Atlantic background variables influence a high or low anxiety or self-confidence profile. Finally, the differences in Cognitiva, Somatic Anxiety and Self-confidence are analysed on the basis of independent variables: gender, age, athletic speciality, level of competition achieved, coaching, daily training time, weekly training days, years of training, number of attorneys you enter and number of competitions in which you participate annually. Average values were obtained in precompetitive anxiety (cognitive and somatic) and high in self-confidence. Similarly, as could be expected from the type of group, wilting and deception techniques obtain very low scores. On the contrary, the scores for fun are very high and those obtained in high effort and skill. There are also high perceptions of success in sport for ego and per task. The results are discussed and it is concluded that the profile of veteran with the highest self-confidence and the least anxiety is the one who, being a male over 50 years of age, shows a greater focus on the task and diversity in practice of the more technical Atlantic specialties, which, in turn, self-enter and has more than 20 years of experience in practice of his test.AbstractPrecompetitive Anxiety is analysed within the grounding population of Spanish Veteran athletes. We also assess which variables of Intrinsic satisfaction, perceptions and beliefs about the causes of successes in sport, and which variables of Athletic training and background have an impact upon passing an Anxiety profile or high or low self-confidence. Finally, we analyse the differences in cognitive Anxiety, Somatic Anxiety and selfconfidence based on independent variables: sex, age, Athletic Specialty, competition level achieved, whether the athlete is coached, daily training time, days of training per week, years spent training, number of athletes with whom they train and number of competitions in which they participated annually. Midrange values were obtained in precompetitive Anxiety (cognitive and Somatic) and high values in self-confidence. Also, as expected with this type of collective, boredom and deception techniques get some very low scores. Conversely, scores for fun are very high, and so obtained for effort and skill are also high, as is perception of successes in sport Judging by ego and task. We discuss the results and conclude that the profile of the Veteran with more confidence and less Anxiety is the one who, being a man of over 50 years, shows greater task orientation and sense of fun during practice of more technical Athletic Specialities and who, in turn, is self trained and has over 20 years practice.
