The article reflects on a genus that is graphic, capable of altering its image – representation of words – symbol, which has passed through almost 100 years, has been able to exceed the typical limits of expression and has been successfully and peculiar in different fields of art and culture. It is considered to be a Saltarin genus, since the newspaper and magazines sat the book, cinema, TV and finally in the middle, but has been able to witness radio and theatre, painting, architecture and urban planning. This wide range of possibilities has made it possible to have a variety of applications not only in recreational, political, ideological terms, but also in terms of teaching and propagation. Our aim is to make it possible to receive at least a small amount of information about this phenomenon and to allow it to approach the genus of vignettes. This will contribute to generating mediations for a timely projection of the role of mass communication in this form.
