Teaching of sociology and interdisciplinarity: case study of an institution of the State Education Network in Minas Gerais

Abstract

The present textual construction proposes to draw up a critical reflection on the possible interfaces between sociology teaching and other subjects of Middle Education, in a specific case unit, the Messias Pedreiro State School in Uberlandia-MG. Conservative study, from isolated subjects, limits the learner’s knowledge and makes learning discouraging and fragmented. Already in interdisciplinary practice, the subjects complement each other, cooperate with each other and it is possible to link school subjects to the co-tidal reality of learners. To this end, research is carried out on the basis of an exploratory nature, thus drawing on this research, other professionals may find it difficult and correct to work with interdisciplinarity, which contributes to the implementation of viable solutions in teaching practice and in the preparation of pedagogical projects, as regards sociology and their interdisciplinary bridges with the other curricular components. That study was devoted to an analysis of the institution’s political and pedagogical project, with a view to ascertaining whether it itself contemplates interdisciplinarity. In addition, complementing the desk review with field observation, we attended and analysed sociology classes in the two-week period in mid-2011.
