Gender perspective in Higher Basic Education and Baccalaureate

Abstract

Gender research has shown that the school environment is the right space to eliminate stereotypes about inequality, discrimination and violence. This is because it is in this period that teenagers learn to interact according to their cultural conceptions or following stereotypes learned from home or in the environment. Consequently, the aim of the study was to assess the influence of the gender perspective on the social interaction of adolescents in school environments at the levels of General Higher Basic Education and Baccalaureate at the Amelia Gallego Díaz Education Unit. The research was based on a quantitative approach, non-experimental design, cross cutting and descriptive scope. The tool used for data collection has been an adaptation of the scale of attitudes towards gender equality for pupils in García-Pérez et al. (2010), applied to a sample of 263 students from the institution under study. In carrying out the analysis, the results in the indicators of the gender perspective show an adaptive attitude that has a direct impact on equal treatment and equity in the social interaction of students; in other words, in this educational institution, students have been adapting to the current situations, however, there is still a significant proportion that remains firm in the teaching that has instilled them in their family.
