An analysis of modelling as a didactic situation

Abstract

The purpose of this article, which is theoretical, is to disseminate an academic master’s research completed in August 2013 by the authors mentioned above (guiding and guiding, respectively), the aim of which was to characterise the mathematical Modelling with the support of Enomaboan as a didactic situation according to the TSD’s eyes. In that way, when analysing the authors’ publications which in a particular case were found to be possible by following the (dialectical) steps indicated by the theory of educational situations (TSD). Following these arguments, a Modelagem activity involving the theme of naval carpentry developed in the municipality of Abaetetuba-Pará is presented, which seeks to represent the maths (non-school) practised by the master craftsman by means of mathematics spread in school culture. Finally, after the reflections and demonstrations made in our conclusions, it is possible to recognise the Modelling with input from Enomaboan as a didactical situation by the fact, inter alia, of enabling the pupil to build his or her own knowledge by means of situations arising from his cultural environment, allowing the use of those mathematical ‘different’ in accordance with the context presented, without one dominating the other.
