Abstract
The article looks at young people who are self-identified as right and extreme right, based on the theory of Karl Mannheim generations and their analyses of conservatism as a style of thought. The data originated from quantitative research carried out in middle schools in three municipalities of Rio Grande do Sul, with 2.169 respondents. The outcome of the study is part of the response to political self-identification, on the scale from 1 (extreme left) to 10 (extreme right). The male, white profile, mainly present in private schools and teaching Catholic or evangelical religion, has been identified as statistically significant for identification as right or extreme right.
