APPLICATION OF NEW TECHNOLOGIES TO STUDY SPANISH CIVIL WAR POSITIONS IN PINTO, MADRID

Abstract

The prospecting work carried out in the municipality of Pinto (Madrid) has made it possible to locate different enclaves with archaeological remains, linked to military operations carried out around the capital during the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939). For their identification and documentation, use was made of GPS during prospecting baths as well as aerial photographs of different periods that helped the process. In collaboration with researchers from the Polytechnic University of Madrid, the ‘Los Yesares’ field, a variety of techniques, was implemented in one of the most important areas, with the aim of achieving the fullest possible spatial representation. These techniques included topographical surveys to perform CAR- tographics at different scales, UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) flights and the use of ground scanners to obtain 3D representations.
