Abstract
This article reproduces the main arguments raised by Lévi-Strauss in Histoire de Lynx (1991) concerning the discovery of the Americas and the first contacts between Amerindians and Spain. The author highlights the innovative contribution of Lévi- Strauss when dealing with contact situations through the mythology of the mellizos, argues that ‘aculturing processes’ can mean receptive cosmology and an attitude of ‘openness to the other’ in the Amerindian worlds. This leads to a break in the classical ways of making the history of Discovering, as well as the very figure of twins and trickster.
