In article are considered history of emergence of insurance. Insurance upon individual forms of business passes to collective forms, first of all in the form of joint-stock company. The author considers insurance as important sector in a world and national financial system. It is also noted that the insurance market of Kyrgyzstan is developing, but doesn’t play an essential role yet in national economy as is at an average stage of development.
