Social connection of UAGRO dental social service providers in Guerrero

Abstract

Suffering and oral deterioration increase their presence among the population in all areas: local, regional and national, with the greatest impact on the poorest, so efforts have been made between educational institutions and the health sector to implement oral health strategies, plans and programmes. One of these was the social service programme following the academic training of dental practitioners in order to close their training stage. However, this professional practice, which is a prerequisite for their qualification process, is undoubtedly a process that enables trainees to face up to the dental reality in order to check whether they are ready for the proper professional performance of dentistry. Method: From this perspective, the trainees of the Guerrero Higher School of Dentistry from the 2005-2010 generation were followed up and included in a discussion forum together with others involved in their vocational training in order to really discuss the social ties of professionalists and their problems, in order to analyse the relevance of the Social Service in addressing the health problems of inhabitants in remote areas and the possibility for dental practitioners to consider practising in rural areas on the basis of experience. Results: It was found that the pasants of the Social Service were initially willing to develop their professional practices in remote communities, which varied at the end of their service due to a number of irregularities during the service which significantly reduced the interest of these professionals in working outside the cities. Conclusion: The results show the need to review the training and guidance of UAGro dental practitioners, but above all the need for the university to discuss and agree with national, state and municipal health sector institutions to set up an effective programme for the care of oral health problems in marginalised communities.
