Abstract

ABSTRACT The teaching of a grammar using a cognitive approach is gaining prominence as an effective way of presenting contents, which have been traditionally explained through a plethora of grammar rules and exceptions leading to confusion and a sense of chaos among both learners and teachers when applying those rules. Furthermore, the development of new digital tools and the possibilities of the Web 2.0 offer a space for teaching the grammar in a way that engages learners and provides for contexts that make it significant while inviting to reflection and collaboration. This paper presents an activity designed using a digital tool and two ways of carrying out the activity (individually or by using a discussion board) are proposed. The aim of the activity is to promote the teaching and learning of the difference between indicative and subjunctive from the point of view of a cognitive grammar and a constructivist view of learning through collaboration.
