Abstract
The letter sets out the educational experience known as: The Intercultural University of the State of Tabasco (UIET) and the data referred to cover a ten-year period (2005-2015).1 The text reflects, from a critical point of view, the historical development of the University and the various ways in which intercultural education is understood in this institution of higher education (IES). It analyses the process of training the uiet and the actors involved, the different stages of construction it has undergone, the obstacles and challenges it has faced. The selection of sources was guided by the search for two types of inputs: official documents from the University and through the use of various research methods and techniques recognising, on the basis of the experiences of teachers and students, the views of the actors on the development of UIET.
