Abstract
The first purpose of this article is to present and describe the local experience of an open community of teachers sharing a common issue: the establishment and development of humanities and social sciences for students in science and technology. This description attached to the practical functioning of such “micro” communities is, in itself, a originality of our approach. Although they are very likely to be numerous in French universities, they are ultimately very poorly presented and analysed in their collegial and evolving dynamics. On the other hand, it is necessary to show that the theory of communities of practice is a very relevant framework for analysing this local experience a posteriori and better understanding its challenges and conditions. This theoretical framework ultimately allows us to draw conclusions on the possible future of this local initiative by analysing the conditions which enable it to develop, one of which is to underpin collaboration in order to build new lessons in SHS for research projects.
