The aim of this article is to analyse the barriers encountered by businesses in the tourist accommodation sector in the process of implementing and certifying a Quality Management System. The methodology used consists of a profound analysis of these (factorial analysis and cluster). Results show that the most important barriers faced by companies were mainly the lack of time to dedicate to quality tasks, resistance to change and to take on new responsibilities for employees.
