Abstract
ResumenCurrently, in Spain, radio audiences for sports broadcasts are massively increasing. According to the figures relating to the first wave of 2008 of the General Media Study (EGM), the Sports Carousel of the SER channel – a programme from which the fragments to which this Article is exemplified have been obtained – is the third programme of the ranking of the most listened programmes of the Spanish radio. From this point of view, this article is intended to be a starting point for analysing whether or not there is a hypothetical poverty in language resources in such programmes: sports radio broadcasts – this would be the first of the two paradigms presented. It is only by corroborating this starting hypothesis that a further step could be raised and attempt to draw conclusions from why that is the case. But, obviously, in order to climb to the second step, the first step must first be built. And how to do so? Given the complexity of this article by means of a small study – a very specific example, based on three radio fragments of sports programmes, the aim is to defend the idea that research on this subject should not be closed in a specific area of research, but rather a hybrid methodology combining both quantitative and qualitative techniques – the latter, based mainly on Teun A. Van Dijk’s studies and its analysis of the discourse – bringing them under a dual level of study: textual and contextual.AbstractNowadays, in Spain, the radio hearings of the sport broadcastings are vertiginally increasing. According to the reference numbers to the first big wave of the General Means Study (EGM) in 2008, the program “carusel Deportivo” of the channel “Cadena SER” – program from where this article is exemplified have been obtained – is the third program in the ranking of the most listed radio programmes in Spain. From this fact, this article purports to be a departure point in order to analyse if there is or not a hypothetical poverty of linguistic resources in that type of programmes: the radio sport broadcastings. This one would be the first of paradigms that appears. Only confirming this departure hypothesis would be possible to pursue one more step and TRY to get conclusions that. But, obviously, to raise a second step, it is necessary to have the first one built. And how can we do this? We need to look for a technical methological hybrid that combines quantitative and qualitative techniques – these last ones based on the studies of Teun A. Dijk his and analysis about the text about this double level of study: textual and contextual.
