Abstract
In Colombia, there are very few victim-care programmes with a psychological – comprehensive legal perspective; each instance is concerned about its segment of the process: those institutions dealing with the legal aspect merely refer psychological assistance to persons who are obviously affected – while institutions providing psychological services are interested only in the mental health of the individual, leaving aside the legal and formal aspects that have the potential to affect the individual. On the basis of this problem, the objective of this investigation was to design and assess the impact of psycholegal intervention on relatives of homicide victims assisting the Life Unit of the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the Nation, on restoring their mental health and preventing subsequent retaliatory motivations and violent behaviour.
