Abstract
The aim of the work is to highlight the need for greater cooperation between toponomastists and cartographers, as one and the other disciplines refer to the designation (name or drawing) of natural references. Another important issue at stake in this work is the analysis of topoponomatic systems without a permanent language centre which, through its speech and language practice, regularly regulates the persistence of toponomastic uniformity (one island = one name). In the absence of such a centre in Kornatim, many communities of neighbouring archipelago designate themselves, leading to the emergence of duality and trimming. A modern cartography rightly ignores this fact and offers total uniformity. However, historical maps show that it has not always been the case and that there was a great native conflict in the area, including the cartography of the time.
