Glocalisation: New theoretical approaches to regional development (Sub National) in the context of economic integration and globalisation

Abstract

In this article, the author deals with issues relating to space, geography and organisation of the territory on the basis of the subject of development. In support of its argument that several of the factors driving globalisation have a territorial basis, such as international trade in goods and services, technological change or international flows, it relies on the categories of social development and places them in two dimensions. In the first instance, the author takes into account the international logic of deploying political, environmental and commercial factors; secondly, it highlights the role of regions and localities in rebuilding the global economic system, concluding that, in a context that is still uncertain, there is an emphasis on the shaping of megapolitan regions that function as regional drivers in the new global economy.
