New Era: an expression of faith of contemporaneity

Abstract

Today’s man lives in a world of uncertainty, where many of the old paradigms that common sense considered to be absolute fall out with incredible speed. This volatility of senses is observed with great clarity in the search for satisfaction: traditional religions are left aside or blended with slavery, mistics and hidden practices, a human attempt to exploit the world through a holistic focus, which restores the previously lost magia in life. In this context of building a new reality, the perception and expression of the satisfaction does not disappear but, following the mindset of its time, is transformed. Religiosity has an individualistic, immediate and disarbitration character, restoring concepts and practices of antigüity, in a clear attempt to recant the world, now from the perspective of globalised society. Eastern philosophies encroach on the religious dimension of the Western world, in an explicitly paradoxical mixture. From this epicentre, the culture of the New Era is born, a movement which seeks to restore man’s sacred tradition by postulating a malicious knowledge, seeking to connect human beings to the transcendant, starting not from specific institutions, but from knowledge and practices of esoterism, concealment and magius.Key words: New Era; Subjectivism; Consumismo.ABSTRACTContemporary man lives in a world of imbalances, where many of the old Paradigms that common sense was used to consider absolute are missing apart with Incredible speed. SUCH volatility of senses is clearly notified in the search for the Sacred: traditional religions are left behind or mined with esoteric, mystical and occult practices, in a human Attempt to explore the world from a holistic viewpoint capable of rescuing his lost magic. In the context of construction of a new reality, the perception and manifestation of the Sacred do not disappear; they may change, following the mentality of the times. Religion assumed an individualistic, immediate and uncommitted feature, restoring old designs and practices, in an Attempt to render the world Enchanted once more, now in the perspective of globalised society. East philosophies invade the religious scope of the Western world, in an explicit paradoxical blend. From that Epicenter is born the New Age Culture, a movement that tries to restore human Sacred tradition by postulating a mystical dimension and connecting man to the transcendent, not through specific institutions, but through the knowledge and practice of esoterism, occultism and magic.Key words: New age; Subjectivism; Consumerism.
