Abstract
The River Bravo or North Grande is the most important natural border between Mexico and the United States. Between 1853 and 1854, four Mexican engineers in the Mexican Limits Commission explored a section of it as part of the demarcation work. They had to put their channel on maps as follows: it specified in the Treaty of Guadeloupe-Hidalgo. The Commissioners still faced serious problems. they achieved the best maps of the Bravo river from Laredo to its mouth near Matamoros. When announcing their observations provided testimony to the vegetation and some climatic variables that may allow analyse likely changes in the area.
