Abstract
This text is the result of a research into the potential of local and regional history in the process of teaching and learning history, as well as an analysis of the commemorative edition referring to the centenary of Ituiutaba of the newspaper of Pontal (Year VI, Edition 951). On the basis of these studies, the article sets out the proposal for a series of lessons with a view to problematic the official history of the city of Ituiutaba, Minas Gerais, Brazil. It was concluded that classroom work with regional and local history, by articulating content and methodology, considering the contributions of history theory and using multiple visions, is able to provide learners with learning that develops their critical, creative and transformative vision.
