Innovation and inclusion: integration in favour of public school pupils in the university

Abstract

The text reports the results of the research aimed at knowing and evaluating the impact of the Programme of Higher Interdisciplinary Training (PROFIS) of the State University of Campinas, as it is an experimental programme aimed at a differentiated group of students, with specific demands and a differentiated curriculum. The objectives of the Buscou search are: — to know teachers’ insight into the offer of the course with its specific features and how they have dealt with pupils with different demands and the pedagogical challenges of a general and interdisciplinary training curriculum; — evaluate the Programme from the perspective of students and the coordination of the architecture of the curriculum towards general and cultural training; — raising the range of courses on social inclusion and combating self-exclusion; — know the students’ assessment of the training received to prepare them academically for the continuation of vocational training and acting as a citizen. The research is important as the university is not yet familiar with a training course that is as specific as the PROFIS objective. The methodology used was differentiated for each of the aspects to be assessed and for each group of subjects. Pupil questionnaires, interviews for teachers and coordinators. The results show the satisfaction of the students, the good thoughts made by teachers and coordinators on the design of the course, the actual inclusion it brings to this particular group of university clientele.
