EDUCATION IN SPANISH PRISONS: TRAINING AND SOCIO-EDUCATIONAL ACTION WITH DRUG INMATES

Abstract

Educaci n in prison has a great deal of regret or as a right enshrined in international and state frameworks to be present in all prisons; as an essential protective factor for the recovery and reintegration of persons deprived of liberty. The purpose of this Article is to analyse the current situation of prison treatment from school and socio-educational education with female prisoners drogodepen – teeth. Research into R & D & I from a single to multim scale – all with a sample of 15 % of female prisoners on the national scene, analyses, on the basis of 538 questionnaires, 61 semi-structured interviews, the participation and value of female prisoners in formal (alphabetizaci n, secondary educaci n, bachillerato and university) and socio-educational programmes (self-esteem programmes, skills – cial, educaci n children, gner, socio-cultural and sports, dulos of respect and preparation for life in freedom). ADEM s, this study presents, from four per se, consumption differentials (non-addicts, active addicts, ex-addicts, in methadone maintenance programmes), some of the data and a lisis m s signi cativa that the educational programmes and actions present in the prevention processes and the deshabituaci of the – problematic amount of drugs and social reintegration. Among some of the main conclusions, we found the positive assessment of programmes with a socio-educational background (in the ranking from highest to lowest: au – Toestima, social, socio-cultural and gene skills) above the regulated ones, although schoolchildren at all levels are highly valued and account for almost 26 % of female detainees as educaci n b sica. Exis – you are little involved in programmes such as educaci n for children or gero (despite the fact that 80 % are mothers and have suffered, prior to detention, domestic violence) and per se, the former addicts are the least participatory and motivated.
