Organisational intelligence: necessary information and knowledge management approach The organisational intelligence: a necessary approach to information and knowledge management

Abstract

Se examines the behaviour and development of organisational intelligence on the basis of an analysis of the conceptions that have contributed most to its evolution. Their processes are examined: perception, knowledge creation and decision-making as well as its fundamental characteristics. Some considerations are presented as to the importance of information and knowledge and its proper management in the integration and development of organisational intelligence in any type of organisation. Organisational Intelligence has a wider scope than practices associated with Competitive Intelligence, among others. However, their integration makes it possible to generate such capacity. Intelligence processes: perception, knowledge creation and decision-making are highly dependent on the use and handling of information and knowledge. All of this makes it possible to ensure that adequate and optimal development of this capacity is conditioned by the application of Information and Knowledge Management as processes that ensure benefits from the use of these resources. The current development of organisational intelligence is examined, starting from the analysis of the most important trends in its evolution. The Characteristics of Organisational Processes Such as perception, knowledge creation and decision making are reviewed. The authorisation also presented s some considerations about the relevance of information and knowledge, as well as their management, for the development of the organisational intelligence in any sort of institution. Organised intelligence has a larger dimension of other practices associated to Competitive Intelligence. Nevertheless, the integration of such practices generated by the organisational Intelligence. Intelligence processes depended again on the use of information and knowledge. This way, the optimal development of organised intelligence is affected by the application of Information and knowledge management.
