This collection includes articles published between October 1924 and November 1925 with some important exceptions: ‘Rome and the artegotic’ means a record which had not previously been published and of great importance in order to appreciate the author’s autobiographical tendencies; “El Alma matinal”, article of February 1928; ‘The elite problem’ of January that year; ‘Schematic of a Chalin Interpretation’; a series of articles on Piero Gobetti of July 1929; “The influence of Italy on the Hispan-American culture of August 1928; and reviews of Bemard Shaw, Waldo Frank, James Joyce. “The Cementon de Gladkov and the German “Revolutionary Novela”, all published between 1926 and 1929. In any event, it is an incomplete whole because Mariátegui had included in the plan of the work a chapter called ‘apology of aventurero’ which was not written and which was intended to be a semblance of Cristóbal Colón.
