El work analyses the approval, constitutional provisions and validity of the 1980 Constitution, as well as the context in which the 54 constitutional reforms of 1989 were negotiated and implemented. Setting out the analysis in the specific constitutional reform to Article 5 (2) of the Constitution, interpreting its meaning and scope. This article analyses the approval, contents and application of the 1980 Chilean Constitution, as well as the context in which the 54 amendments of 1989 were negotiated and passed. Emphasis is given to the interpretation of article 5, subsection 2 of the Constitution.
