Political Repression in the USSR (1920–1950s): Historical and Statistical Research

Abstract

The author touches upon the issues of political repressions, analyzing them in terms of social and demographic characteristics of political prisoners, singling out age-related, national, educational, social parameters and showing dynamics of arrests in conjunction with social and economic transformations of the Soviet society. The article presents the detailed analytical survey of criminal charges of the notorious 58th article of the Criminal Code of RSFSR investigatory case study.
