Museum Based Creative Writing Activity: A Case Study

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the opinions of teacher candidates about writing expression experiences based on museums and historical objects investigations. The participants of the study were composed of 1st grade primary school pre-service teachers who attended the writing expression course during the 2012-2013 academic year. Case study method was used in the study. The data were collected through semistructured interviews and document analysis. In this study, the data obtained were analyzed through Nvivo8 Qualitative Data Analysis Program. The results of the study showed that creative writing expression based on museums and historical objects investigations are extraordinary, intriguing, astonishing, funny, and a different application that reveals authenticity. Another important result of the study is that museum based writing study provided fluency and continuity in writing, facilitated set up the original sentences, provided logical integrity of thought, vocabulary development and the ability to planned writing
