Abstract
The inclusion of the indigenous Wayúu community in public policies at national level raises the need to implement strategies that facilitate the understanding of intercultural participation systems, without undermining the traditions of the indigenous community. One of these scenarios is the education of Wayúu boys and girls in official ethno-educational institutions in the department of La Guajira. This research work aims to develop a proposal for the application of Alternative Conflict Resolution Methods (ADR) in the ethno-educational institutions of La Guajira, in conjunction with the use of the Wayúu legal system. This was done by means of an exploratory, descriptive and pro-positive methodology. The results found reveal a problem related to the cultural clash between learning and teaching mechanisms in official institutions, and the methodology applied within indigenous communities. A proposal for the application of ADR in ethno-educational institutions was developed along the lines that guide the way of life of the members of the Wayúu Nation. A further analysis of its implementation in a set of ethno-educational institutions in La Guajira is recommended.
