The cessation of mining activity in specialised areas (economic monoculture) has led to the existence of a significant mining and industrial heritage, but also of a degraded landscape. Tourism has been seen as an activity that can value and give a new dimension to all landscapes that lost their productive function decades ago. Thus, the Mining District of Riotinto, abandoned to the fate of ‘deindustrialisation’, once again claims its territorial role, this time with tourism, although this is not without problems.
