Teacher Training: New channels and new resources

Abstract

In this article, we raise the issue of “new” teachers with “new technologies and new channels”. We have raised our reflection on two key parts. In the first part, we briefly analysed traditional approaches to teacher training, linking them to new needs, highlighting three key points: trends in teacher training, a taxonomy of teacher training strategies and Huberman’s training model as closest to our concerns. In the second part, we consider the new figure of teachers required by the new channels and new resources. We described 10 of these new resources, pointed out nine elements to be taken into account in the new curriculum for teacher training and, finally, we identified 16 new skills that students of the 21st century will need. We did not reach definitive conclusions. We believe it is too early. The changes are too rapid to allow us to embrace strong statements. But yes, we believe that we can talk about “technotrends” in a broad sense.
